West Side Story !
Set in mid-1950s New York, the story focuses on the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks, two teenage street gangs fighting for control of their neighborhood. The Sharks are first-generation Americans from Puerto Rico. They are mocked by the Jets, a white working-class group who consider themselves the “true Americans” because they were born in the United States, even though their parents are immigrants from Ireland, Sweden, or Poland.
Tony, a friend of the Jets’ leader Riff, meets Maria, the sister of Bernardo, leader of the Sharks. They fall in love—for better or for worse.
